After some of His disciples had fished and “toiled all night and caught nothing” Jesus told them to go out and try again. Although their natural minds couldn’t comprehend this they said “…nevertheless at your word I will cast down the net”.
On another occasion after a similar failure, He told them to cast the net on the other side of the boat. In both cases they landed huge catches. In the first instance they were fishing at the wrong time and in the second, in the wrong place.
There have been many believers trained in the skills of being “fishers of men” only to find ongoing success elusive. Others have “toiled all night and caught nothing” so to speak.
What is the missing element? It’s the guidance of our fishing expert Jesus, telling us how, when and where to fish, “…nevertheless at your word”.
This enables us to have … the right words for the right person at the right time.
